Overview

Any chance sixteen-year-old Dani Miller had of a normal relationship with her mother died when her brother did, when she was still a baby. Maybe her mom used to be fun, but now she's an overbearing perfectionist who can sniff out everything Dani does wrong. Which is, apparently, a lot. Refusing to get involved with school activities or plan for her future is nothing compared to Dani's latest mistake. She's pregnant. When the news breaks, she's the talk of her small North Carolina town. Everyone Dani thought she could rely on disappears one-by-one from her life, and she finds refuge in the one person she never expected - her mom. Unfortunately, years of miscommunication and the ghost of her brother make it hard to repair their rocky relationship. As her due date approaches, Dani pushes for one last breakthrough with her mom, because if they can't mend things, she'll be facing teen motherhood alone.
