He serves as Chairman of the Board for ABWE, the Association of Baptists for World Evangelism, and is actively involved in ministry leadership training worldwide. Sam also serves as the board chairman for CedarBrook Outreach, a ministry focusing on the physical, social, and spiritual needs of at-risk families in Knoxville, Tennessee. Sam was born and raised in New Castle, Indiana, where he met and married his wife, Susan. He earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in theology from Bob Jones University and then served seven years as an assistant pastor at Calvary Baptist Church in Findlay, Ohio. The Polsons moved to Knoxville in 1986, where Sam has served as Lead Pastor for more than 37 years. Sam and Susan have three grown children and four grandchildren. Sam advises the pastoral team and staff, teaches in large and small group settings, and is most energized by witnessing people come alive to the reality of the gospel. Sam's other books include: In His Image, By Faith, SonLight, Corona Victus, Life Changing Prayer, and Pathways. Editor Lisa Soland began her literary career as a playwright. Samuel French published her plays Waiting, Cabo San Lucas, Truth Be Told, The Name Game, and The Man in the Gray Suit & Other Short Plays, but her work can also be found in countless ""best of"" anthologies by French, Smith & Kraus, Applause Books, and Dramatic Publishing. Ms. Soland teaches playwriting at Maryville College, the Arts in the Gap program at Lincoln Memorial University, and leads various writing workshops online and throughout the United States.
