OverviewAre you out of your mind? With that exclamation did the author's father greet her announcement that she and her husband were expecting their first child. And for good reason, because his daughter was disabled from birth and as a father of ten he knew from experience the many challenges children would bring. Thus began the author's odyssey as a disabled mother raising two imaginative and rambunctious boys to adulthood. Along the way she learned that motherhood sometimes required inventive solutions and that children had their own definition for assistive devices . My Mommy's Toys is a children's coloring book written from the point of view of the oldest son in the author's family. This book is unique because the Mommy's Toys are crutches, a walker and a wheelchair. This story is filled with antics of the brothers using Mommy's toys in their play and gives some insight into raising children when the mother has Cerebral Palsy.
