My Ladies of Fairmount Street is a raw, unflinching memoir about what it means to love people who will forget you existed. Each friendship was independent of the others-each friendship revealed a human being suffering in silence. As the ladies's needs grew, friendship evolved into caregiving. Love and compassion flowed freely until the hidden diseases began to surface. Each of Craig's ladies was different in her illness-dementia, schizophrenia, delusions, depression. Walking alongside these diseases opened Craig's eyes to the uncomfortable and sometimes frightening realities of unraveling minds. He stayed until their diseases erased the memory of their story, erased Craig.

Book Review 1: Judy Robinson, Professional Caregiver --- I had the privilege of caring for Craig's mother for 4 years until dementia took her life. During that time I watched Craig learn what it meant to show up every day and be there for his mother that he loved very much. As things got worse he did not turn away like his siblings did, he was there everyday. As I read his book I could visualize him giving 100% of himself to helping these ladies like he did for his mom. As a professional caregiver, I know how rare this kind of commitment is, especially from someone who wasn't being paid and had no family obligation to these women. This book is a wake-up call, a message I know personally that needs to be addressed.
