Dr J.S Nagra (Jagat Singh Nagra) is a retired inspector of schools with a long career in education, originally in India and later in the UK. He played a leading role in the UK educational system and was instrumental in getting Asian languages, and in particular Panjabi and Asian Studies, introduced in British Schools. Dr Nagra has written around fifty books, that are used by students and teachers around the world. In this book, Dr Nagra explains how during the time he was teaching, he helped to foster greater mutual understanding between different communities and improve race relations. He took an active part in several national and local organisations such as: the National Council for Mother Tongue Teaching, the National Council for Punjabi Teaching, and the Federation of Indian Organisations, that helped to develop and maintain community languages in schools. He also played an important role in the National Council for Pastoral Care in Education and Coventry City Community Relations Council which helped the city council to create and maintain good community relations.
