Dr. Sarah (Pyke) Foston holds a PhD from Bournemouth University in the United Kingdom as well as a Master of Business Administration degree and Bachelor degrees in both Business Administration and Liberal Arts from Cape Breton University located in Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada. Entrepreneurship, academic impact, community involvement, extracurricular activities, and of course family have always been central to Sarah's life. From a young age, Sarah idolized her mother, Dr. Joanne Pyke. The two graduated with PhDs from the same university, co-authored papers and book chapters, travelled the world together, and so much more. After Joanne's passing, Sarah was inspired to write her fi rst children's book in honour of her role model as a way of sharing her mom's legacy and knowledge with the world. As an academic and an Ecosystems Advisor with the National Research Council of Canada, Sarah became a mom in 2024-just four months before her own mother passed-and hopes to carry forward the values, wisdom, and strength her mother so deeply instilled in her. Sarah lives on beautiful Cape Breton Island (Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada) with her sweet husband Matthew and their precious son Christopher where they enjoy lots of family time together. This one's for you, Mom!Born and raised in Whitney Pier, Nova Scotia, Canada, Ron Evely started drawing when he was a young child and always particularly enjoyed drawing people. As a self-taught artist who never took any formal art classes, Ron's keenest interests are political cartooning and caricature art using watercolour, charcoal, pastels, pen and ink, and colouring pencils. Ron has been a caricature artist for twenty-five-plus years, and his caricature drawings have been commissioned locally and internationally. He is currently focused on live caricature gigs where he caricatures guests at weddings, conventions, reunions, grad parties, and more. Ron is a member of the Canadian Editorial Cartoonist Association and the International Society of Caricature Artists. Ron was the editorial cartoonist for the Cape Breton Post in the nineties and went on to publish a collection of editorial cartoons in his book titled Lead Poisoning. Ron currently resides in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada with his wife Joanne. Ron is delighted to be the illustrator for My Hopes for You: Love, Mom xoxo, as Dr. Joanne Pyke, the inspiration for this book, is his baby sister and someone he had a very special relationship with. This one's for you, little sis!
