I received an advance review copy of the book, 'My Friend Sam' from the author Esther Roberts. This beautiful love story is about young Esther growing up in America's Deep South. It chronicles the incredible journey of how in spite of poverty and hardship she perseveres to follow her dream of owning her first horse, Sam. We see her face numerous challenges as she struggles to make her dream a reality. And, we also witness the special bond that develops between the two of them over many years. With Sam right by her side, Esther grows into a determined and successful young woman. With the love and support of different mentors she is guided to release the social and cultural norms of her environment and discover her true self and encourage others to find their own authenticity and be kind.
