Overview

'My First Ramayana' introduces the characters of the great Hindu Epic. Each section of the Ramayana is summarized in one page with corresponding artwork. It provides a springboard for storytelling and it is the hope of the author to help families stay connected with their heritage. All illustrations are in the Madhubani style of art, which is the artform of the people of Mithila. It is believed to have originated at the time of the Ramayana, when King Janaka ordered his kingdom to decorate the town for the wedding of his daughter Sita to Rama. The book includes the 'most likely route taken by Rama and troop' during his exile and in their search for Sita after she was abducted. It also features the 'National Flag of India' and what it stands for.
