At the height of the grunge era teenagers in Seattle are disappearing and turning up dead. Based on actual events My Emerald City depicts a child's journey into substance abuse and her brush with America's most prolific serial killer. They said I was born with alcoholism, that its my families disease and since I have it, there's no gettin' rid of it. Certain life events can trigger it, or arrest it. My stage was set from birth and I have to run and try not to die for sixteen years. I never thought of finding a simple key would change everything but it did. Kathy Browne is the author of My Emerald City-When Growing up Grunge Is A Killer. In addition, she's a volunteer at the National Runaway Safe-line, and donates her spare time inspiring at-risk kids living inside juvenile hall detention centers.
