Shushuya: My Special Dragon Friend

Overview

A charming and imaginative picture book from the Middle East about a boy and his imaginary friend. Shushuya is a dragon, and Shushuya is my friend. He's blue and green and very large with scales from end to end. Follow a young boy and his dragon through a day of extraordinary adventures and ordinary tasks. Translated from Arabic and written in rhyme, its repetition evokes traditional ghazal poetry and makes it a perfect bedtime read-aloud. This sweet story of adventure, friendship, and the power of imagination is sure to inspire readers young and old to find the magic in every day.

He is the author of numerous children's books, including The Fisherman, The Adventure of the Three Ducks, and On the Way to School. He studied and lived in Hungary for 23 years, and now lives in Jordan. Charlotte Shama is a French illustrator, married to a Palestinian, and has been living in West Asia with her family and pens for many years now. After studying applied arts and animation in France and England, she worked as a volunteer in an Arabic-speaking school, a press photographer, a librarian, and an art teacher. Finally, Charlotte came back to her passion and settled happily on being a freelance illustrator. Elisabeth Jaquette is a translator from Arabic.
