Overview

Fresh out of medical school, Dr. Swasticharan Leimapokpam, secured a job as a medical officer in Tihar, the largest jail in Asia, housing over 13,000 prisioners at a time. Dr. Leimapokpam spent five rough years there, treating inmates' ailments while dealing with their often unbearable pyschological isssues. These stories serve as a testament to the challenges he faced and the lives he touched. Based on real events, Dr. Leimapokpam pulls the reader into his world full of escape attempts, death, addictive drugs, confrontations, and on occasion gratitude. Each story reflects the life and mood of the inmates he encountered, making us realize that in some ways they're not so different from ourselves.
