There are no words to describe the changes in the lives of families when they learn that a child they love has been diagnosed with autism. This book was written for those families. It explains autism in simple terms, discusses the major characteristics associated with autism, and offers simple strategies for helping children with autism function in their homes, at school, and in the community.

Reviews
This book gives a great outlined approach to the parent and professional. It explains in great detail the why and how of Autism. This is a good starting manual for those parents whose child is newly diagnosed. It brings up characteristics of Autism that no one cares to touch on, like extensively explaining Sensory Processing Disorder, and helping your child develop life skills and why its important. Communication is vital! And this book gives great tools on how to do this.

-- Jenny McCarthy - actress, comedian, model, mother, author of three NY Times bestsellers, leading spokesperson for autism awareness
