Music and Engineering Beyond the Ordinary: A Global Heart of Childlike Sincerity 不一般的《音乐与工程》与环球同在的赤子心 Music is a感性 and universal language that transcends translation and facilitates human communication-some say it is the language of the universe. Music from different regions inherits unique characteristics that may not be easily perceptible to outsiders. What outsiders typically perceive through music are surface-level emotions, such as sorrow or joy. In the United States, the most visible manifestation of multiculturalism often occurs during celebrations, where people wear different ethnic attire, play traditional instruments, and enjoy cuisines from various regions. Many perceive this as multiculturalism, yet it remains only a superficial understanding of it. 音乐是一种超越翻译、促进人类交流的、感性和通用的语言有人说它是宇宙的语言。不同地区的音乐继承了其独特的特点，这些特点可能对外人来说并不容易感知。外人通常通过音乐能够感知到的是表面的情感，比如悲伤或喜悦。在美国，多元文化最明显的体现通常出现在庆典活动中，人们会穿着不同的民族服装，演奏传统乐器，并享用来自不同地区的美食。人们经常将这视为多元文化然而，这只是对多元文化的表面性了解。 When it comes to the cultural and philosophical elements embedded in music-such as why it is expressed in a certain way and what meanings it intends to convey-only through in-depth exploration of music, philosophy, and culture can one truly comprehend them. This requires a common platform for mutual understanding. Through my own music composition, I have come to realize that what we refer to as """"classical music"""" or """"symphonic music"""" is precisely such a universal language for mutual recognition-a common platform for nations, cultures, and peoples around the world. It is widely accepted and enjoyed by people globally. I believe that when Chinese people refer to this type of symphonic music as """"Western music,"""" it is a perception based on surface-level appearance rather than an understanding of its core musical philosophy. Labeling it as """"Western music"""" implies a comparison between classical music and traditional Chinese music, suggesting that symphonic music is a form of Western ethnic music. However, in a certain sense, symphonic music is not Western ethnic music. It is a type of music created through a rational system of compositional methodology.
