MURDER LETTERS: Serial Killer Letters and other Clues Left by Murderers The Zodiac Killer, while he has never been identified, committed a string of gruesome murders in the late 60's and into the early 70's in California. The Zodiac Killer claimed in his letters to have killed 37 however, police have only been able to confirm 7 of those victims and two of the victims actually survived. The first attack took place on December 20th of 1968 when the Zodiac Killer, shot and killed David Arthur Faraday who was 17 at the time and his girlfriend Betty Lou Jensen who was 16 at the time.
