Murder In Ice

Overview

Murder in Ice was a bestseller in Finland in 2023 and is Kaarina Griffiths' debut novel for English readers. A Christmas-set psychological thriller and murder mystery blending Scandinavian crime with unrelenting suspense, laced with dark secrets and ancient legend. In remote Lapland under the Northern Lights, a Christmas workshop on Sámi culture turns deadly when a body is found beneath the ice. Detective Inspector Heikki Tuunanen must unravel hidden secrets and old grudges among the course members - a shaman, a reindeer herder, a folklore researcher and more. Locals whisper that the legendary wolf-like Stállu is to blame, but the police are convinced a human killer is on the loose, hiding in plain sight. Every chapter unearths new clues and darker motives, leaving you craving more and turning ""just one more"" into an all-night read. Who can be trusted when everyone has something to hide? Perfect for fans of psychological thrillers, cosy Christmas murder mysteries and Scandi-noir. Can you unmask the killer before another victim is claimed?

Book blogger About.jenni.h, 16.1.2023 ""Murder in Ice is a good example of a traditional Finnish detective story. I really liked the book's colorful and authentic cast of characters and its surprising plot. The information about the Sámi culture and myths was interesting, and Lapland is such an exciting and magical place. Kaarina Griffiths knew how to create a great atmosphere amidst roar of the wolfs, the Northern Lights and witch drums."" Heni´s book circle, 20.1.2023: I waited for the Advent Calendar, Murder in Ice, to open every morning like a child! Great idea to publish a book like this. When reading, you go through the characters one by one to see who it could be, and at the end the one you didn't suspect is revealed! The authos is playing the reader. Agatha Christie comes to my mind.
