Overview

We have all heard of Single Best Answers (SBA), Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ), Extended Match Questions (EMQ) and True and False Questions. However we have not heard of Multiple Statement Questions (MSQ). Well maybe because they were not there! To the best of my knowledge, this is the first time this question format is introduced into a medical book form. In MSQ there are four questions and no option is given for the answers. What happens is that in MSQ all the statements are intended to have the same answer response. The difference is that the students have options of questions as opposed to SBA where they have options of answers. Therefore, if students cannot find a correct answer from the first statement maybe they can in the second, third or even the fourth statement. As the statements are fact based on a particular topic, they will also be able to learn in the process of answering. Therefore this is an opportunity for students to explore the MSQ and enhance their knowledge.
