OverviewThis book is the second volume on the subject of perhaps a little appreciated class of light sails. I am sure that some of the concepts expressed within this book have been contemplated by others before, but nonetheless, it has been only during late in the year 2014 when these concepts first occurred to me in detail in a rational and conscious manner. The proposed light-sail methods include back-reflection of relativistically aberrated light and other energies and back-reflection of forwardly incident light and other energies over the angular displacement of incidence from 0 to 180 degrees. All incident light is assumed to be substantially back-reflected in a direction precisely antiparallel to the spacecraft velocity vector during normal modes of spacecraft acceleration. Forwardly incident light is first assumed reflected in the forward direction and then back-reflected via the assistance of various refractive characteristics of the secondary reflector(s) which funnel the light backwards regardless of the angle of light incidence. All portions of the spacecraft which would otherwise shadow the energy capture area are assumed to have cloaking aspects so as to divert the incident energy around said portions followed by backward exhausting of the energy in a direction precisely antiparallel to the spacecraft velocity vector. All optical mediums except for the necessary reflective aspects are assumed to be substantially perfectly transmissive of the light and other energies they conduct.
