Author Information

Miriam Jiménez Bernal holds a PhD in Philosophy and Language Studies, awarded by Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. She also holds BA in Translation and Interpreting (English and German) and a BA in Linguistics, as well as a MA in Interdisciplinary Gender Studies (all of them awarded by Universidad Autónoma de Madrid) and a MA in Communication, Culture, Society and Politics, and she is currently completing a MA in Human Rights (both of them awarded by Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia). During her training period, she had the opportunity to collaborate as technical staff in several research projects related to Gender Studies and to Applied Linguistics. Thanks to these experiences, she started some research on the implementation of Bilingual Education in Spain, as well as on language use and gender, as her publications and contributions to conferences and seminars prove. She collaborates with Erasmus projects to train teachers in CLIL and intercultural/plurilingual settings. Her professional experience focuses on the educational field, having worked as a teacher for extracurricular English lessons for more than 4 years in the Pre-school and Primary stages, in Madrid. She worked as an Assistant Lecturer and director of the MA in Bilingual Education at Universidad Europea de Madrid between 2012 and 2024. This background is complemented with the participation in conferences and seminars on Linguistics-related topics, as well as on culture and teaching innovation. She is currently the Associate Dean of International Relations and Diplomacy in Schiller International University.
