Overview

This work presents a range of issues pertaining to conflict and violence in close, personal relationships. It crosses disciplinary and national boundaries - presenting the work of scholars in psychology, family studies, anthropology, women's studies, sociology and legal philosophy, who come from Denmark, France, Germany, Britain, Greece, Poland, Romania, Spain and the Netherlands - to provide a range of geographical, cultural and historical backgrounds. An integrative framework in the introduction seeks to guide the reader and map the main issues and methods, while chapter prefaces place each chapter within the framework and a final section of commentaries by US researchers reflects on the different perspectives presented. The book is intended to be easily understood from whichever discipline it is approached and is aimed at those practitioners and their students who work with family conflict.
