The Mrcog: A Guide to the Examination

Overview

The MRCOG is probably the most important international postgraduate examination in obstetrics and gynaecology. It is recognised and valued as a measure of ability. Members of the College are to be found in every continent, often as leaders of the profession in their countries. This book is an essential guide to examination. Major changes have been made in response to the new Specialty Training and Education Programme in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. A new curriculum and syllabus for both the Part 1 and Part 2 MRCOG examinations have been developed. Details of this new curriculum and syllabuses and their impact upon the examinations, are included in this volume. There is also a chapter on the significance of the Membership examination in a global context and the reasons for its continued popularity among candidates. The book is divided into chapters which focus on the individual components of the examination. Concepts such as the standard setting and blueprinting of examinations are explained in detail, in addition to accounts of newly introduced formats such as extended matching questions (EMQs) and the evolution of the essay questions into short-answer questions (SAQs) in Part 2. Most importantly, this book will assist candidates with their revision for the examinations and provides vital information on how to obtain a pass.
