OverviewBorn in 1910, in Skopje, Macedonia, it was 17 years since she began teaching in India, when Mother Teresa experienced her ""call within a call' to devote herself to caring for the sick and poor in 1946. For her, charity meant giving till it hurt. She founded the Order of the Missionaries of Charity. Her Order went on to establish a hospice, centers for the blind, aged and disabled and aeper colony. Today, the blue-bordered white sarees of the nuns have become a symbol of humanity and caring. In 1979, Mother Teresa was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for her humanitarian work. She died in September 1997 and was beatified in October 2003. She was canonised a saint by the Roman Catholic Church in 2016. This is her amazing story.
