For me, this volume marks a substantial shift in the morphogen gradient concept. This has fundamental importance to our understanding of embryonic development and alerts us to the often-overlooked parameter of time in dynamic systems. While this revision has likely been emerging over the last nearly 10 years, it is not easily noticed by one not working directly in the field. Consequently, I appreciate the update this book provides. --Doody
