We've branded the term homeless in a way that immediately segregates the population unfairly. Economic discrimination is the cancer eating away at our communities. No group is more at risk than those without a home. The state and the general population have determined that if you don't have a house, you do not have access to the same rights as everyone else. This is a gross abuse and horrendous stain on our collective conscience. This book explores tried and true methods that have proved effective for alleviating homelessness with the potential to be scaled to statewide solutions. Those suffering from homelessness are more than animals. No matter their background, psychological state, or the choices they made that landed them on the streets, people without homes are human beings, worthy of dignity, respect, and hope, Now is the time to make our communities safe once more for all our citizens, housed and unhoused, beginning with our People First plan. Now is the time to provide new housing opportunities, education, medical, and mental health treatment to reintegrate those without homes back into society.
