OverviewDuring the Vietnam War, helicopter pilots and their crews saved thousands of lives while performing the U.S. Army's most dangerous job. One in eighteen never made it home alive. The pilots and crews held a job that was exciting, exhausting, and extremely dangerous. As a result of our mission with the 5th Special Forces Delta Operations, we suffered a higher casualty rate than most aviation units serving in the Vietnam War. As you read about these men, you will find that they are some of the bravest men you could ever get to know. Each of these men loved his job; they would risk their lives to save their fellow man, and they would do it day in and day out. These men gave the ultimate sacrifice; they gave their all. What more can you ask of a person? I do believe if they could return to life, they would again want to serve with the 281st Assault Helicopter Company. We had some of the best. Take time to read about each of these men. They were young; they were brave, they are our brothers. This book is a labor of love and respect. Therefore, any and all revenue collected from the sale of the book will be donated to the 281st Scholarship Fund which awards annual scholarships in the names of our lost and missing Intruders.
