Montana's Vacations is a collection of true stories about a special black Labrador retriever who graduates from Southeastern Guide Dog School and goes on to Puppy College. Montana has lots of adventures and goes on many crusing vacations with his Companion and her family. Montana uses what he learned in school to protect his Companion. On a visit to Half Moon Cay, his Companion Helen decides to take him wadding in the surf so he can have fun playing in the water. Montana didn't see it as play, he saw the waves as a threat to his Companion. Have you ever seen a 90-pound black Labrador throw himself at a 120-pound woman to keep the waves from getting her? That's exactly what happened during their outing, and Helen spent more time laying on the sand than walking in the waves. After spending more than 35 years (in dog years) going on cruise vacations, Montana's Companion and her husband, Ben, were given medals and a pin by Holland America Cruise Lines and Montana was made a Line Mariner. Montana believes that he can communicate with his Companion telepathically by staring into her eyes. After reading his stories, you might think that he really is telepathic.
