Table of ContentsReviewsReviewed By Jack Magnus for Readers' Favorite Monsters Knocking At My Door: The Mighty Adventures Series is a picture book for children, grades K-3, written by Rebecca Guerrero and illustrated by Lynx Animation Studios. It's hard being a kid who is all too aware of the monsters that lurk around his house. He and his Teddy can hear them knocking at the door, making scary noises and threatening gestures, and even hiding under the rug in the living room. His mom never seems to believe him, no matter what he says. When he tries to get her to look outside at the monster who's peering inside with eyes glaring and claws outstretched, mom simply explains that it's a tree he's seeing. A tree with claws? It just doesn't make sense to him. Mom says it's all his imagination, but when he tastes slime on the lemon cake and then notices beady eyes and a tongue on that same cake, he knows there's a big problem. What's he to do? How is he supposed to go to sleep with his toes smooched up against a damp, squishy nose? Rebecca Guerrero's monstrous picture book for children, grades K-3, Monsters Knocking At My Door: The Mighty Adventures Series, is a delightful fable about an infestation of monsters who turn out to be rather timid and endearing, if odd looking, creatures who need the boy's protection. Each page is a surprise and delight as the reader follows the suspenseful story and marvels at the monsters that are clearly visible, no matter what his mother may say. Lynx Animation Studios' illustrations are masterful! The monsters are fabulous, especially the lemon pie monster and the horned, purple, dog-like monster who's hiding under the covers in bed. There's a grand moral to this story about judging others by their appearances or by how different they may appear, and it's brought home quite eloquently in this whimsical and enchanting book. Monsters Knocking At My Door is a perfect selection for story time as well as a grand primer for young readers. It's most highly recommended. Author InformationR.C.
