Author Information

Esi Merleh is a writer, editor, and Consultant in Public Health Medicine. She studied medicine at the University of Oxford, and her academic research looks at the interplay between film and public health. Alongside Magic Faces, she is working on her first middle grade novel, PRINCESS AMINA AND THE SEA OF KNOWLEDGE, set in medieval Timbuktu. Abeeha Tariq is a Pakistani-Irish freelance illustrator, based in the UK. She primarily works digitally and was commended for Faber's FAB Prize in illustration in 2020. Growing up, she would have loved to see herself in the countless stories she read and, as an adult, she is invested in illustrating and telling stories with diverse characters and communities that represent our world today. She loves bringing her work to life with colors, shapes, and textures.
