Will an adventurous octopus ever find a a friend? A baby octopus lands in a lovely Parisian fountain and grows up surrounded by tourists. The tourists are always in a rush and never have time for Monsieur Pierre Poulpe. One day, the lonely Monsieur Pierre ventures out of his fountain, beginning a great search. Humorous illustrations chart his journey from a Parisian fountain across the Seine, up the Eiffel Tower, into the Louvre, out to Notre Dame and up Montmartre. Along the way, he encountrs some fo the most famous inhabitants of the City of Light. Sadly, none of them are eager to befriend a little octopus. Just when it seems there is no hope, a clever idea and two visiting children befriend Pierre and take him to a new home. Pierre continues his adventures in California, touring the Golden State from top to bottom, oceanside to mountain top, with his new friends. In a surprise ending, Pierre and his new friends are visited in California by some of the same Parisians he left behind. This is a clever picture book for 3 - 5 year olds, designed to take young children on a satisfying journey, illustrated with humor. Along the way, readers discover that there's a place with friends for everyone and sometimes one just needs to be a bit adventurous to find it.
