Industrial sector is adopting sophisticated and intelligent instrumentation systems to monitor and control various physical quantities. Therefore, there is potential demand of compact, planar sensors to convert different physical quantities into electrical signals. Microstrip sensors are found to be excellent candidates for this purpose. This Monograph presents basics of microstrip sensors, different planar microstrip sensors for humidity and oil level measurement. It also covers the concept of microstrip patch antenna as a sensor to detect metal objects. Design, fabrication and testing of proposed sensors is illustrated. The experimental set-up and measured results are also demonstrated in detailed manner. TLT based LC equivalent circuit is used to validate the results.
