OverviewThe corporate world seems to have lost its joy progressively over time. Why? Who knows. It could be because of the shareholder dollars, because people are promoted into positions and not supported, because business leaders have lost some of the most exemplary models for leadership through retirement, or for other reasons. Or perhaps it's because of a low understanding of Emotional Intelligence (EQ). These two model leaders are our true north, guiding us in how to conduct ourselves in management positions. Yet in his book Emotional Intelligence 2.0, Travis Bradberry shows that research he conducted found only about 36% of people had the ability to identify and understand emotions. So where's our succession plan for EQ? I believe that EQ can be a learned skill than anyone can attain.
