Overview(PWM). Can a classical pianist also improvise? Play without sheet music or by ear? However much we would like the answer to this question to be ""Of course!"", unfortunately, few pianists feel comfortable in this area. Furthermore, we are ashamed that after playing the piano for so many years, we cannot play anything by ear or simply play anything without looking at the sheet music. And there is no reason to be ashamed at all because, after all, if we have never learned any kind of improvisation, we do not have such a skill. I emphasize a skill, not just ability. ... Improvisions is a collection of compositions for four hands, in which the primo piano part contains short, improvised passages based on the method created by the author that introduces the practice of improvising. Each passage will include an original melody created by the performer and played with the accompaniment of the secondo piano part. Marta Molodynska-Wheeler, fragment of preface The author intends the collection for people of all ages who want to learn improvisation skills.
