Overview

This is not another Christmas story! In the heart of a snow-covered forest resides an adventurous elf named Molly Ribbons. Once a rebel toymaker for Santa Claus, Molly's determination to make a difference in the world leads her to learn the art of flight. Her motivation? A profound concern for the environment and a desire to give the children of the world a better tomorrow. Concerned with pollution, deforestation, and the endangerment of countless creatures as she travels the world, first as Santa's navigator and then as an aviator. Molly's journey will take thrilling twists when she crosses paths with Maya, an environmentalist on a mission to rescue imperiled animals affected by pollution and global warming. United with their loyal animal companions, they forged a formidable team of environmental heroes, bound by a singular purpose: safeguarding our planet, each other, and future generations. Embark on an awe-inspiring adventure alongside Molly, Maya, and their furry comrades, a journey brimming with hope and unyielding determination. This narrative is tailor-made for children aged 5 to 12 and their parents, offering a poignant reminder of the importance of caring for our Earth and the empowerment of children to become environmental champions in their own right.

Author Information

Sofia C. Lavin is a middle school author from California. She first created the story of a rebellious toy maker during COVID for a 3rd-grade school assignment. As remote learning continued, Sofia and her father developed enchanting characters and their quest to protect the planet. Sofia is a Cadette in the Girl Scouts of Southern California and is a member of the Sierra Club and the Audubon Society. She enjoys art, playing the violin, writing, summer fun at Camp Alonim, and playing with her pets. Sofia is finalizing her next book, Avigail Singer - The Warrior of Ares. Richard Lavin, Sofia's father, is an entrepreneur, a union supporter (SEIU and Teamsters), and an environmental scientist. He co-developed several characters based on his childhood where he spent summers traveling throughout his family's ancestral homes in Spain and Portugal. Richard is concerned about climate change and its impact on Sofia's future. He is a member of the Sierra Club, Ocean Futures Society and Save the Redwoods. He enjoys learning about new cultures and how their living conditions are being impacted by global climate change.
