Mojo City: A Sonny and Breanne Mystery #6

Overview

The Sonny and Breanne Mystery series follows the adventures of two eighth grade friends who look nothing alike- Sonny, a short black boy, and Breanne, a tall white girl. Both are highly intelligent but lack the social and athletic skills of their peers. Breanne has been hearing ghosts since she was four years old. Her mother homeschooled her through the seventh grade before agreeing to enroll her in public school. Sonny has been a student in public schools since kindergarten. They met in the cafeteria when she sat down across from Sonny at what the kids call the nerd table. Their special friendship developed after they discovered they both had psychic powers: they could read minds and, when they combined their powers by holding hands, they could see and hear ghosts. Ghosts have helped them deal with school bullies and solve old mysteries for the Memphis Police Department. Book 6 in this mystery series introduces two ghosts of elementary school age who have telekinetic powers to move objects with their minds. The eighth graders' psychic powers continue to evolve. Through her dreams, Breanne foresees the future-one involving a dangerous building fire, one leading to the discovery of stolen museum paintings. Sonny enhances his skill as an animal whisperer. He also learns more about the familial source of his psychic skills. His Hoodoo amulet-called the fist-demonstrates never-before-seen powers as it helps him solve an 80-year-old family mystery.
