LEAP is an acronym for Learning Enrichment and Acceleration Program in which students are tested and labelled as highly gifted having an IQ of 150 or above. He was selected into this program in 1975 and remained an active participant until his high school graduation in 1988. As he began middle school in 1981 the program name shifted to PROBE and remained that way through high school. PROBE is an acronym for Problem-Solvers, Researchers, Observers, Brainstormers, and Evaluators. PROBE includes lessons that place an emphasis on research, technology, problem solving, critical thinking, creative thinking, oral and written communication, and building leadership skills.
