Andera is a retired professor from South Dakota State University in Brookings, South Dakota. During his tenure, he served as the Coordinator of Career and Technical Education in the College of Education and Human Sciences, and he served as a Safety Consultant in the College of Engineering. Dr. Andera received his doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Construction from Illinois State University, Normal, Illinois. His master's degree from Bemidji State University is in Industrial Technology with an emphasis in Construction. He received a bachelor's degree in both Vocational Education and Industrial Technology in Construction from the University of South Dakota in Springfield, South Dakota. Dr. Andera served as the Director of Education and Safety at Associated Builders and Contractors in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He taught Construction Management at Illinois State University, overseeing courses in Architecture, Construction, Scheduling, and Masonry, as well as coordinating the On-Site Construction Project. Dr. Andera oversaw the Residential Construction Program at Ellsworth College in Iowa Falls, Iowa, where students built a brick veneered residential home each year.
