OverviewThis book project aims to address the issue of models of lexical access -specifically, bilingual lexical access- by means of a thorough analysis of studies from the Psycholinguistics and Neuroimaging fields. Specifically, the models selected belong to two different frameworks: the descriptive framework and the computer-based framework. Thereupon, the global final aim of the current book is to assess the selected models of lexical access and discuss the strengths and limitations of both the models themselves and the theoretical frameworks to which the models refer to. Furthermore, the goal is also to provide an extensive landscape of the current status of the literature, framing it, in order to contribute to a better understanding of where the current findings stand at and, over and above that, the direction towards which future research should head. Overall, the findings point towards the conclusion that we are still in need of a dynamic and hybrid model that can fully capture the complexity of such a process.
