The coeditor of the Steel Heat Treatment Handbook, the Handbook of Mechanical Alloy Design and the Handbook of Aluminum (all titles, Marcel Dekker, Inc.), as well as the author or coauthor of approximately 400 professional publications on hydraulics, lubrication, quenching and heat treatment, Dr. Totten is a Fellow of ASM International and SAE International and a member of the American Chemical Society, SAE International and the American Society for Testing and Materials, among other professional organizations. Dr. Totten is a past-president of the International Federation for Heat Treatment and Surface Engineering (IFHTSE). He received the B.S. and M.S. degrees from Fairleigh Dickinson University, Teaneck, New Jersey, and the Ph.D. degree from New York University, New York. Lin Xie is a Software Engineer, SolidWorks Corporation, Concord, Massachusetts. The author or coauthor of more than 26 articles, Dr. Xie received the B.Sc. (1985), M.Sc.
