Overview

An uplifting space adventure about the interstellar vessel JJ Grant and her crew, alien technology beyond human understanding and a danger that may result in the extinction of the human species. The Orrappa, a troublesome species from a dying planet, are pirating and plundering Thark space vessels to supplement their own diminishing resources. When they discover planet Earth, they want it for themselves. It falls to the JJ Grant, with help from a Thark battle cruiser to prevent that happening. An affair between a human and an alien has consequences... a mixed species child. The JJ Grant's AI is upgraded using alien technology and becomes self-aware... fully sentient, and longs to be free from the cabinets that confine her. Chad, the captain of the JJ Grant, is taken gravely ill. His life is saved by alien robot surgeons. A body scan reveals life-threatening issues developing. Alien doctors say they have the technology to resolve all his medical problems... and more. They offer their incredible life-changing procedures to Chad's whole crew... something the humans will thank the aliens for as long as they live. This is a book with many twists and turns that bring out the best in its characters and will give the reader a warm glow. OldLincoln 5.0 out of 5 stars Great series just keeps getting better! Great series just keeps getting better! Reviewed in the United States on July 20, 2020Great following sequel to Tribe Earth! Best to read that before this . And I'll read Next if given the opportunity. A captivating read! Sci-fi would not be my first choice of genre but this book was recommended to me and I enjoyed it! You find yourself immersed in far away space exploring planetary systems with such beauty. It's fast paced, smoothly written, a fascinating tale of the most advanced technology and life imaginable it's hard not to become Star-struck! Journey through the unbelievable. I was a newcomer to Sci Fi. From his first book Tony takes us through a journey from the familiar to the fantastic - with spoonsful of excitement on the way. Well done. I await the next journey with great anticipation to see what experiences are awaiting our friends on the JJ Grant. Fantastic read. A really fantastic read my Dad said to me after he finished the second book in the series. He thought the first book was great, however he told me this book really enthused his love of Sci-fi. Great read. As one new to Sci Fi I found this book riveting. It makes one more aware of life forms outside of our own universe and the likelihood that further space exploration will resemble in some way perhaps the scenarios put forward in this book. I particularly enjoyed the interaction between the inhabitants of the different planets and their willingness to help each other and further joint scientific research.

Author Information

Tony Saunders grew up in London, trained as an engineer before serving with the RMP in France and Germany. Returning to civvy street, he worked for a number of large engineering companies eventually starting his own successful engineering related business. Around the same time and along with four other families, he upped sticks to help restore an old country mansion in West Sussex where he and his family spent many happy years. Tony and his wife enjoy travelling to new places when they can and have spent much time touring the USA, East to West and North to South. Favorite places... San Antonio, Texas and Sarasota, Florida. An accomplished potter, Tony enjoys making beautiful stoneware pottery that hopefully someone will cherish and use everyday, maybe a fruit bowl, mug or even a cereal bowl. Always an avid reader of hard science fiction, Tony turned to writing and publishing his own works, all of which carry a sense of optimism, inspiration and human decency. Tony lives with his wife and Lottie the dog in deepest Dorset, close to the beautiful Jurassic coast. They have two grown up daughters.
