Er wurde wiederholt von Papst Pius VI, wie von der k niglichen Familie von Neapel empfangen, besuchte h ufig die romischen Salons, besonders die des Cardinals de Bernis und der Principessa Santa Croce, wurde in die Akademie San Luca und in die Arcadia aufgenommen, liess mit H lfe Gaetano Marinis eine grosse Anzahl schwedischer Dokumente aus dem Archiv des Vatikans copieren und widmete sich mit voller Energie dem Stu dium der Kunstsch tze Roms. Er hatte den grossen Vorteil, als F hrer einen Mann wie Francesco Piranesi zu haben, welcher seit dem Besuche Gustavs III. In Rom in Jahre 1784 die Stellung eines Generalagenten f r Schweden beim p pstlichen Stuhl ein nahm Ueberdies scheint Fredenheim in Rom fast Jedermann, der eine Rolle in k nstlerischer oder litterarischer Beziehung spielte, gekannt zu haben.
