Hockenbery, MD is Professor, Member & Head of the Gastroenterology & Hepatology Section of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. He is also a Mentor in the Seattle Children’s/UW/Hutchinson Center Pediatric Hematology-Oncology Fellowship Program. He received his M.D. from Washington University in St. Louis, completed his Residency in Medicine at Johns Hopkins and also completed two Fellowships, in Gastroenterology and Molecular Oncology, at Washington University. Dr. Hockenbery’s current research interests include the bcl-2 oncogene and its role in apoptosis, mitochondrial biology and bioenergetic metabolism, utilizing cell culture, transgenic mouse and protein biochemistry approaches for identification of cancer-selective metabolic pathways and discovery of small molecule inhibitors targeting these pathways.
