I had heard rumors that my husband's body had been thrown into the Mississippi River after he was murdered by men known to be involved in criminal activities in and around our small town. I asked endless questions, but eventually the police ended the investigation due to lack of evidence, or more likely, due to a cover-up by corrupt police officials. In any case, I have never gotten any answers. This published story of John Lloyd -Buddy- Heflin is a tribute to this man, a source of gathered information, possibly evidence, as well as a plea to anyone with information to come forward.- -Alexis Heflin
