Overview

Neill Mallory: Young. Black. Gay. A young man who's future has been set in stone by a loving family, whether he likes it or not. Sheila Galliano: Young. White. Former poor little rich girl, now just poor, facing an unknown future in an inner city school. Minority of One follows these two teens as they seek answers to the age old question: what happens when you feel you are the only one of your kind? Neill knows he disappointed his family once by coming out as gay, nothing will make him hurt them again. Sheila's family has disappointed her all her life, beginning by abandoning her in a boarding school at six and culminating in her father's recent suicide. These teens and their friends meet in an Chicago school where they struggle to tear down the Act Like a Man Box that tries to define what boys and men are/are not, do/don't do. In the search for acceptance they uncover secrets that change the course of both their lives.
