Our team has a pretty fantastic job. Every week we get to meet together in the OR with the chance to help patients increase their quality of life. In our OR, we say that every case is like Christmas, because although we can do all our history & physical taking, imaging and workup, we never really know what we're getting into until we open it up. That is where the joy and the art of surgery take over. A creative process unlike any other, where our surgical team goes into action to maximize results and minimize our impact on the patient. The goal is painless, scarless, bloodless surgery. In this book, our surgical team is proud to share with you our multimodal pain prevention protocol, based on our experiential knowledge gained from almost 500 robotic cases. Dr Susan Crockett, MD is the Founder and Medical Director of Virtuosa Gyn, South Central Texas' first practice dedicated to offering women Minimally Invasive Gyn Surgical (MIGS) options. Additionally she is a Co-founder of BotDocs.com, an online medical education platform for the advancement of robotic surgery. She is a Diplomat of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG) specializing in benign complex gyn and is considered the South Central Texas' top female robotic surgeon across all specialties. Dr. Crockett earned her M.D. from Texas A & M University College of Medicine in 1991, completing her residency at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C. in 1995. She is Board Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is also a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecologists. Previously, Dr. Crockett served as the Director of Obstetrics and Gynecology for the Santa Rosa Family Practice Residency Program and was an Assistant Clinical Professor for the Department of Family Medicine at UTHSCSA. In 2004, she was appointed to serve on the FDA Advisory Committee for Reproductive Health Drugs. She has co-authored many medical publications, as well as one book. Dr. Crockett has practiced as a general Ob/Gyn in the San Antonio area for more than 20 years. She began Minimally Invasive (or Robotic) Gyn surgery in 2010, becoming one of the first few dozen gynecological surgeons nationally who completed the Master's Level (highest level) training for da Vinci surgery in benign gynecology. She has served as an Intuitive daVinci advanced benign gyn proctor for 5 years and is available to proctor gyn surgeons new to robotics as well as experienced surgeons interested in learning advanced cases such as sacrocolpopexy, complex myomectomy and complex hysterectomy. In 2012, Dr. Crockett was named a Top Doctor by US News and World Report for Robotic Gyn Surgery, and she has been named one San Antonio's Best Doctors consecutively for nearly a decade. In May of 2014, Dr. Crockett made the decision to stop providing obstetrics services, in order to concentrate her efforts fully on the surgical side of gynecology.
