Overview

Ophthalmology is by definition a visual discipline and this mini atlas provides the latest information on LASIK techniques by giving thorough written explanations supported by 100 colour photographs. The authors have put together the standard images that are needed for pre-operative assessment, management of the patient with the newest wavefront and femtosecond technology, and also for the management of complications using LASIK. There is also a free DVD that gives demonstrations of three different LASIK techniques. This handy pocket mini atlas is an excellent reference for all practitioners involved in refractive surgery.

Reviews

No field has changed the field of Ophthalmology so dramatically in the last 10 years as has refractive surgery, led in advances by laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK). It has been difficult to keep up with all the advances in the field with many textbooks continually attempting to fill gaps in our knowledge while remaining pertinent to changing standards. In this new work Mini Atlas of LASIK , a long-lasting addition to the field is evident. This atlas fills a much needed gap in the educational materials available for our field. Ophthalmology is a very visual field, and images convey a thousand words each, which makes this work packed with information and help all us clinicians in our daily work with refractive surgery. This work lives up the historical excellence in writing and images by the editors and is a must for the libraries of refractive surgeons and ophthalmologists and other eye car providers that need to be aware of the nuances of the refractive surgery paitent's clinical findings. The authors have put together the standard images that are needed for the preoperative assessment, management of patient with the newst wavefront and femtosecond technology, and also for the management of complications of LASIK. Continue to grow your knowledge and awareness of refractive surgey by putting this work to use in your practice. You will be thankful you did. As a surgeon and clinician, keep advancing the field of refractive surgery. -- David R Harten 20090201
