OverviewMind and Consciousness - Philosophy and Neuroscience: this book addresses the most important aspects that have been debated in the areas of philosophy and neuroscience in relation to issues of mind and consciousness. The first part includes a general overview of the main contemporary orientations of the philosophy of mind and consciousness, as well as a critical approach to the views of some of the most outstanding philosophers in the English-speaking ""world"" (Dennett, Searle, Chalmers, etc.). The second part deals with some of the main neuroscientific theories of consciousness (with a special emphasis on the Portuguese neuroscientist António Damásio), as well as includes scientific theories and philosophical reflections on the main functions of the mind: perception, emotion, memory, volition, thought. Finally, the third part seeks to combine the ""conclusions"" that have been ascertained in the previous chapters, with a perspective of the ontological levels from the physical to the human consciousness, taking into account an ontological conception of the conjunction of the virtual with the natural real.
