Overview

In the fifth book of the Milo Ryder US Marshal Series, Milo stumbles upon an abandoned ranch that sparks his interest as a potential purchase. Seeking more information, he approaches Clyde Stevens at the local real estate office, hoping to learn who owns it. Clyde uncovers that the ranch once belonged to the Hawkins family, who were tragically murdered by outlaws -- killers who were never caught. Will Clyde find the current owners, and will Milo be able to secure the ranch? Life at the Rocking R Ranch continues as Milo waits for Clyde to track down the current owner. That is, until one morning, Hannah and Maria go for a ride and hear gunshots. They discover two men attacking a family in a wagon, causing the horses to panic and overturn the wagon. With quick thinking, Hannah and Maria open fire, wounding one of the men and sending them fleeing. Hannah and Milo take the injured family to the Rocking R Ranch to recover. Lowell F. Volk, a native of Minnesota, retired in 2004 and is living in Pleasant View, Colorado. He is a member of Western Writers of America. Lowell and his wife, Mary Lou, have five children: Terri (deceased), Scott (deceased), Paula, Lowell Jr., and Kathy.Lowell has a BS from California Lutheran in computer science and an MBA from the University of La Verne. He retired from General Dynamics in 2004 where he was a manager of software engineers, which required extensive travel both in the United States and overseas. After he retired, Lowell was a substitute teacher of K through 12th grades, on the board of directors of the Peasant View Fire Department, a member of the Montezuma Sheriffs Possie, and a former Deputy Sheriff of Montezuma County, Colorado. He now enjoys writing books.
