Mike Peyton's Floating Assets

Overview

Mike Peyton is the nautical world's best known and much loved cartoonist. For years he has made his mark, contributing witty, well executed and poignantly funny cartoons to the yachting and boating press, poking fun at seafarers of all types and capturing in his distinctive cartoon style their often eccentric and idiosyncratic ways. Following on from his successful Ever Wonder Why We Do It? this is another wonderful and unique collection of Mike Peyton's light hearted and amusing recollections of time spent messing about in boats, many of them his own, all illustrated in his unique cartoon style. A perfect bunkside read for seafarers and landlubbers alike. 'Here is a man who can literally draw on his experiences. Mike's mischievous sense of satire is informed by his own inimitable exploits on the water in a succession of odd craft... there is no other sailing cartoonist in the world who can match his elegant, economical wit and wisdom.' Paul Gelder, editor of Yachting Monthly

'When it's cold, wet and windy it's hard to find the humour in cruising under sail, but somehow Mike Peyton seems to manage it...there are many things here that will strike a chord' Sailing Today (December 2007) ' The perfect boating partner ' Boat Mart (March 2009) Easy to read and difficult to put down I recommend it to anyone who enjoys Peyton cartoons and maybe like me wondered about the character of the man behind the cartoons. Royal Navy Sailing Association (Summer 2009) 'A good book for light reading...and a laugh.' The Nautical Magazine (May 2009) 'Overall a good read, a good laugh and something learnt.' Cruising Magazine (March 2010)

Author Information

Mike Peyton's cartoons have been published in sailing magazines all over the world and in 16 books. Now over 80, he has owned 13 boats, including Brimstone, Lodestone and Touchstone (nicknamed by one charterer as Grindstone) on which he took charter parties sailing on the UK's East Coast. There is no truth in the rumour that his next boat will be called Tombstone.
