OverviewMidwinter now has a new look with a new cover, 2017. It was originally published in 2008. It is based on a true crime which happened near Christmas time, 1831. Everyone thought beautiful Frankie Silver and her husband, Charlie, were a handsome match. When the young couple married, it was the social event of the season. Then a set of footprints leading from the Silver cabin to the nearby barn ended with the discovery of Charlie Silver's dismembered body, and Frankie was the only suspect. Her trial would end in a hanging. Buckhorn Tavern Christmas 1861, published in 2017, is a monologue told by Patricia Young who worked at the Buckhorn Tavern where Charlie spent a lot of time.
