OverviewUnlike many traditional books on RF and microwave engineering written mainly for the classroom teaching, the second edition of the Microwave and RF Engineering book adopts a practical, hands-on approach to quickly introduce both students and practicing engineers to the principals of this important subject. The author make extensive use of the Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools in the Keysight Genesys software to illustrate the foundational principles of RF and microwave engineering. The use of the EDA methodologies in the book closely parallels the latest tools and techniques commonly used in industry to accelerate the design of RF and microwave circuits and systems. In general this book provides readers a solid understanding of RF and microwave concepts such as electronic components, Smith chart, S-parameters, transmission lines, impedance matching, resonators, filters and amplifiers. More importantly, it details how the EDA tools are used in the book to analyze, synthesize, simulate, tune, and optimize these essential components into a design flow as practiced in industry. This ensures that the skills learned in this book can be easily and immediately put into practice without the barriers of having to acquire costly and complex EDA tools. The investment in learning the foundational of RF and microwave circuit design skills and the use of Electronic Design Automation techniques taught in this book provide engineers and students with a valuable knowledge that will remain relevant and sought-after for a long time to come. Table of ContentsReviewsIt's refreshing to see a textbook on RF and microwave engineering that adopts a practical hands on approach through the use of computer simulation to make the subject come alive on screen. It's the same approach used by RF design engineers to develop products these days. Learning with hands-on computer simulation also develops better engineering intuition than reading an old-fashion textbook laden with math equations. Author InformationAli A. Behagi received the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Southern California and the MS degree in electrical engineering from the University of Michigan. He has several years of industrial experience with Hughes Aircraft and Beckman Instruments. Professor Behagi joined Penn State University as an associate professor of electrical engineering in 1986. He has devoted over 20 years to teaching RF and microwave engineering courses and directing university research projects. While at Penn State he received a National Science Foundation grant to establish a microwave and RF engineering lab and the Keysight ADS and Genesys software grants to use them in teaching high frequency circuit design courses and laboratory experiments. At present Professor Behagi is very active in authoring and publication of several textbooks and solution manuals in the field of RF and microwave circuit design. All his publications can be found on the Amazon web site. Professor Behagi is recognized as the Keysight Distinguished Author and a Certified Expert. He is a Life Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the Microwave Theory and Techniques Society. Society.
