OverviewThis is a visually arresting series of portraits of everyday people from around the world from photographer Michael Itkoff. For six years, photographer Michael Itkoff has been travelling the world taking portraits of everyday people on ordinary streets. In these photographs, a makeshift backdrop is held behind each subject to create a striking aesthetic which isolates, or partly isolates, the subjects from their urban context while, at the same time, seeming to make them even more connected to it. This technique, normally reserved for celebrity and commercial portraiture, is all the more arresting for its anonymous characters. Locations include London, Sydney, Hanoi, Bangkok, and New York.
